Teens leading teens

For 40 years, YouthLead (formerly Lutheran Youth Fellowship) has equipped teens to develop and use their leadership skills as they serve Christ within their congregations and communities. We offer resources and training to equip teens to lead and mentor each other.

Our annual leadership training event is facilitated by the teen YL Leadership Team. The event makes use of leadership resources developed to give teens the tools they need to mature in their faith, become leaders in their congregations, and reach out to their peers with the love of Christ.

YouthLead is now looking to the future with the development of additional resources aligned with the 7 Practices for Healthy Youth Ministry. This will include resources for adults who mentor and champion young leaders, potential regional conferences and connections to other programs like LCMS Servant Events and the LCMS Youth Gathering.

2022 Teen Leadership Training

YouthLead, formerly Lutheran Youth Fellowship, annual leadership training will take place March 17-20, 2022, in St. Louis, Mo. This annual training event is led by our teen Executive Team. The event gives teens the tools they need to mature in their faith, become leaders in their congregations, and reach out to their peers with the love of Christ. We invite any high school youth who is an active member of an LCMS to join us.

The 2022 Training is currently at capacity. You can register for the waitlist with the link below and should space become available, we would be happy to contact you. We hope that even more teens and adults can join us in March 2023.

  • What happens at a YouthLead training?
  • What happens at a YouthLead training?

Youth are equipped for leadership in two key ways. First, we engage them in studying God's Word through a Bible study they experience and are trained to lead back home. Second, we focus on their unique identity and vocations so they can lead from their strengths in their home congregation.

  • What if I can’t make it this year?
  • What if I can’t make it this year?

Don’t worry, we hold it every year in St. Louis. We also work with LCMS districts and groups of congregations in a region to bring shorter versions of this conference to your area. Contact us for more information on this option.

Our first priority is the safety and health of our young people and their adult mentors.
We will continue to monitor the situation. Our location will allow for everyone to be in a separate room for housing. We will also offer a 100% refund if we need to cancel due to Covid or health concerns.

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod Inc., including Mission Central (in Mapleton, Iowa), is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity.

A contribution designated (restricted) for a specific purpose, when accepted, will be used only to fund expenses related to that purpose. Occasionally, we may receive more in contributions for a particular purpose than can be wisely applied to it in the foreseeable future or the purpose may cease to be feasible. In these situations, the LCMS will make reasonable attempts to contact contributors to apply their contribution toward another aspect of ministry that aligns closely the contributor’s goals and values. If a contributor cannot be contacted, the LCMS will use the gift to meet a similar pressing need that most closely matches the contributor's original intent.

Consistent with Synod Board policy and in recognition of the joyful response and generosity of God’s people over the past fiscal year, not more than 10.5 percent of any charitable contribution will be allocated to administering gifts and communicating with contributors (compared to a not-more-than ceiling of 13.5 percent the previous fiscal year). Contributions received and accepted by the LCMS are deemed to be in agreement with this statement.
